Swan was appointed by our client to deliver a combined reactive and proactive maintenance contract covering a portfolio of pumping stations and sewage treatment plants across their national network. The client had experienced significantly high costs associated with reactive maintenance in the previous financial year and was keen to reduce these unplanned expenditures through a more strategic, preventive approach. In response, Swan developed and implemented a tailored proactive maintenance package, specifically designed to address the unique operational requirements and risk profiles of each asset type. As part of this strategy, we also identified and replaced a number of assets that had been incorrectly specified or poorly installed, which were contributing to system inefficiencies and failures. Since the implementation of the proactive programme, the client has seen a 70% reduction in reactive call-outs. This has led to a substantial cost saving and increased reliability and resilience across the client’s infrastructure, demonstrating the long-term value of a preventive maintenance approach.
